I hired a lab assistant today to help me with the cadaver! Her name is Kay, (same as my mom) and she is really a nice girl. She is a nursing student here at the college, and she is doing tutoring for my A&P class. It really takes a weight off of my mind knowing that I have someone who I can count on to help me this semester.
In other news, I am eating ramen for lunch at work with John's old hot pot. Yum:)
I found out that our lab has no gas last week, and since we're getting a new lab room put in upstairs we thought that the plumbers had turned the gas in the pipes off. Today I asked more thoroughly about it and they discovered that it is just that our propane tank is empty. D'oh! Gotta get that filled, teaching microbiology lab has been sort of hard without flame... I need it to reconstitute my pathogen samples (AKA growing disease organisms in lab).
Blixi got spayed on Friday and things have been a bit complicated over the weekend. I brought her home on Saturday, and they used tissue adhesive to close her suture. She had licked it and jumped around the house enough that by Sunday morning I thought it had split open enough to be hazardous, so I called in the vet for an emergency check. They resealed it and gave us an Elizabethan collar. She looks like a satellite dish, and she's been sort of mopey. She's not fighting it though. Then yesterday the adhesive was coming apart again, so I took her back in and they had to anesthetize her and they put in staples. I can tell that they hurt, poor pup. She's still in pretty good spirits though.
Spent a lot of time yesterday working on stuff for Oktoberfest coming up this weekend. Spent around $68 on meat for all the meals. I love to cook for this party, lots of German food and beer and good times with our friends before the cabin is shut down for the winter. It's too bad that Blixi won't be feeling better by then enough to run around with us, she'd have a blast. Going to have to leave her at Gramma Yost's.

Wish I was there for the party!
Poor Blixi...but she'll be fine.
Yeah, I'm just an overprotective worrying mommy these days, though it was a really good thing this weekend. I probably saved us both a bunch of trouble by hovering this once:)
I'll eat some spaetzel and sauerkraut for you!
